Packaging & Recycling
Last updated: 18 August 2026
We aim to package our products in a way that provides reliable protection during transport while avoiding unnecessary packaging material wherever reasonably possible.
On this page, we provide information about our general approach to shipping and product packaging, disposal and recycling, as well as the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
Our Shipping Packaging
For shipping our products, we primarily use packaging made from cardboard and paper.
The size and design of the shipping packaging are adapted as closely as reasonably possible to the respective product and the requirements for safe transport.
Our aim is to avoid unnecessary outer packaging and excessive use of materials wherever this is compatible with the level of protection required for the goods.
Among other solutions, we use paper-based packaging tape to seal our shipping cartons.
Product and Protective Packaging
Depending on the product, additional product packaging, protective materials or other packaging components required for safe transport may be used in addition to the shipping packaging.
The type, material and extent of such packaging may therefore differ depending on the respective product.
When selecting packaging, we consider not only the amount of material used but also product protection, transport requirements, practical suitability and the applicable legal requirements.
Disposal and Recycling
Many of the shipping packaging materials we use can be returned to existing collection and recycling systems.
Where possible, please separate individual packaging components according to their respective material and observe the collection and disposal requirements applicable at your place of residence or location.
Cardboard and paper packaging can generally be disposed of through the designated waste-paper or cardboard collection systems, unless the applicable local requirements provide otherwise.
As collection, separation and disposal systems may differ between countries and regions, the information provided by the relevant local collection or waste disposal authority should be followed in case of doubt.
EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste – the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) – establishes a directly applicable European legal framework for packaging and packaging waste.
The PPWR entered into force on 11 February 2025 and has generally applied since 12 August 2026.
However, numerous individual requirements of the Regulation, including certain provisions relating to labelling, recyclability, recycled content, packaging minimisation and other packaging characteristics, become applicable progressively at the respective dates specified in the Regulation.
We take into account the requirements applicable to us and, when selecting and assessing packaging, also consider information and documentation provided by our packaging suppliers.
As the specific obligations may depend on factors such as the type and material of packaging, its function, the role of the respective economic operator and the applicable implementation date, we will update our packaging information where necessary in line with further legal and technical developments.
Further information on Regulation (EU) 2025/40 is available through the official legal information service of the European Union: Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste .
Product Protection and Use of Materials
Packaging performs an important protective function, particularly when sensitive or high-quality products are shipped.
Using the smallest possible amount of material is therefore not automatically the most appropriate solution if this would increase the risk of transport damage, additional transport operations or replacement deliveries.
We therefore aim to achieve an appropriate balance between:
- reliable protection of the product,
- the use of materials according to actual requirements,
- suitable packaging materials,
- the best reasonably achievable separation of the materials used, and
- consideration of existing collection and recycling options.
Information Provided by Our Suppliers
For purchased packaging and packaging materials, we may depend in part on technical specifications, material information, conformity information and other documentation provided by the respective manufacturers or suppliers.
We request such information where it is required to assess applicable legal requirements or to provide appropriate information about the packaging materials used.
Sustainability and Use of Resources
Further information about our general approach to resources, product longevity, packaging and other sustainability-related topics is available on our Sustainability page.
Packaging licensing in Austria
Our packaging subject to licensing requirements and placed on the Austrian market is licensed through Altstoff Recycling Austria AG (ARA).
