Responsibility, Materials & Use of Resources
Last updated: 20 August 2026
At Hauck Barista Tools, functionality, quality, durability and the considered use of materials and resources are central to our product development and our day-to-day work.
We do not understand responsibility as a general environmental promise. Products, manufacturing, packaging and transport have impacts and require resources. Our approach is therefore to make decisions as transparently as reasonably possible, avoid unnecessary use of materials and design and select products so that they reliably fulfil their intended purpose.
Durability and Function
For our own products, we place particular emphasis on robust construction, functional design and the possibility of long-term use.
A product should not need to be replaced because of short-term trends, but should be capable of remaining reliably in use for as long as reasonably possible.
Where the construction and type of product allow, we also take maintenance, care, repair options and the replacement of individual components into account in product development and service.
Selection of Materials
When selecting materials, we consider in particular their technical suitability, durability, processability, product safety and intended use.
Depending on the product, materials used may include metals, wood, plastics, paper, cardboard and other technical materials.
We deliberately avoid making general statements that a particular material is inherently “environmentally friendly” or “sustainable” solely because of the type of material used. Actual environmental impacts can depend on factors including origin, processing, service life, transport, reuse and disposal.
Product Development and Manufacturing
When developing our own products, we consider not only functionality and design but also the appropriate use of materials and construction intended to support long-term use.
Products and components are manufactured and inspected according to their respective requirements. Particular attention is given to functionality, dimensional accuracy, reliability and product safety.
Where external manufacturers or suppliers are involved, we depend on their technical information and documentation for certain details concerning materials, manufacturing and supply chains.
Repair and Care
A long service life depends not only on the construction of a product but also on proper use and care.
We therefore provide care information for various products and support our customers with technical questions, spare parts and repair options where this is possible and appropriate for the respective product.
Further product-specific information is available in our Care Instructions.
Packaging
The primary purpose of packaging is to protect products reliably during storage and transport.
For shipping, we primarily use cardboard and paper-based packaging. Among other solutions, we use paper-based packaging tape to seal our shipping cartons.
We aim to adapt the size and extent of shipping packaging as closely as reasonably possible to the respective product and the level of protection required, while avoiding unnecessary outer packaging.
Using the smallest possible amount of material is not our only objective: packaging must also provide sufficient protection in order to reduce the risk of transport damage and the additional transport or replacement processes that may result.
Further information is available on our Packaging & Recycling page.
Transport and Shipping
Transport and shipping also involve the use of resources.
In our shipping operations, we therefore consider factors including appropriate packaging sizes, practical shipping processes and the available delivery options of our logistics partners.
We do not make a general claim that our deliveries or products are climate-neutral, CO₂-neutral or emission-free.
Suppliers and Documentation
For purchased products, components and packaging materials, we request information and documentation from manufacturers and suppliers where this is necessary for legal requirements or for assessing the respective product.
Depending on the product or material, this may include manufacturer information, material specifications, conformity documentation, safety information or information concerning packaging materials.
We assess such information on the basis of the information available to us. Statements made by manufacturers or suppliers are not automatically adopted by us as general environmental claims of our own.
No General Environmental Promises
We aim to communicate environmental and resource-related matters in a factual and transparent manner.
We therefore avoid general claims such as “environmentally friendly”, “climate-neutral”, “CO₂-neutral” or comparable general environmental promises for our entire business or product range unless such a claim can be substantiated for the specifically identified matter and is legally permissible.
Where we refer to a particular characteristic of a specific product or material, the statement should relate to a clearly defined and reasonably verifiable circumstance.
Continuous Development
Materials, production methods, legal requirements and technical possibilities continue to evolve.
We therefore review our products, packaging and processes within the scope of our business activities and make adjustments where this is technically and economically appropriate and consistent with product quality.
Our objective is not to promise a perfect solution, but to make considered decisions and continue developing our approach over time.
