Hauck Vibra Tamper – Next Level Tamping

The original Hauck Vibra Tamper, awarded the SCA Best New Product Award 2024, combines a precisely manufactured base and portafilter support with controlled vibration for puck preparation.

Vibration instead of more pressure

The principle of the Hauck Vibra is not higher tamping pressure. Controlled vibration can temporarily set coffee particles in motion during tamping and thereby support a more even particle arrangement in the coffee bed. Inhomogeneities and small voids may be reduced.

The aim is more repeatable puck preparation. Better extraction or a particular flavour is not automatically guaranteed; no tamper can completely prevent channeling under all conditions.

WDT, distribution and 58.45 mm

WDT tools can still be useful for breaking up clumps before tamping and pre-distributing the grounds. Whether WDT, a leveler or other preparation steps are useful depends on the coffee, grind size, grinder, basket and workflow. Vibra does not categorically replace these steps; it adds controlled vibration to final puck preparation.

A 58.45 mm diameter reduces lateral base clearance in suitable modern precision baskets. The correct diameter always depends on the actual basket used.
